FOUR BAD REASONS TO AVOID READING OLD BOOKS

THE STORY BEHIND THE HYMN – “GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS”
William Cowper, the author of this hymn, experienced several tragic events in his life, beginning with the death of his mother when he was six years old, and he suffered from depression all of his life.
Born the son of an Anglican clergyman, Cowper studied for the law, but was so intimidated at the prospect of the law exam that he attempted suicide.
"For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
